"Friends are relatives that you make for yourself" said the card given to me this evening. The quote (Except he said it in French ) is from Eustace Deschamps (c 1345 - 1406). There's some immortality for you.
The occasion was another spin/knit together. A few new friends (And may I say “Through the Loops” is taking to spinning with magic hands? Well down the road to “Why, goodness. It’s as plain as day. I need a wheel.”), some of long standing.
It was a lovely time. There was cake, there was fiber, there were cupcakes, there was yarn, there was one of the Bug Babies, there was knitting, there was teaching (best trick of the day - cut cupcake in half, use frosting as sandwich filling for 2 halves of cupcake. Thank you TTL DD - oh, thank you), there was spinning, garment analyses, All packed in to 2 brief hours.
I don’t know that immortality appeals to me but this was a very merry unbirthday, with friends.
Yes, it was lovely. Someone should do a study on why we spinners and knitters look SO young. On that point, one of these years it might be a good idea to vist the NETA Spa in Maine; pix and links on Woolen Rabbit's website. hb2u, still early.

Merry unbirthday! DD is thrilled at your mention of her trick. It's been wonderful meeting and getting to know you and all of the basement spinners/knitters. Learning to spin has been great but the real treat has been the new friends I've made!
